Day 41 - 071109

Saratoga, WY to Jeffrey City, WY - 108.7 miles

Nice tailwind to start the morning! I rode with Don this morning and thanks to the wind we made great time. Our first 40 miles, including a stretch on I-80 flew by in no time. Our first stop was at the McDonalds in Rawlins, WY. We arrived at our destination for the night, Grandma's Cafe in Lamont, WY but it apparently is close on Saturdays and Sundays. Our next possible stop was in Muddy Gap, WY where there was a junction store and camping. We met Freda, Lisa, and Melissa, who started in NYC on June 8th. They will possibly be joining us for the next few days and are enjoying riding light with their panniers in the trailer. We decided to go 22 more miles to Jeffrey City. The mosquitos are unbelievable and swarm to eat the skin right off you bones. We set up camp and headed over to the Split Rock Bar & Cafe. Just as we were all settled for the night in our tents we were asked to leave as we were apparently in someone yard. This was hilarious to me as Jeffrey City is a ghost town. We picked up our assembled tents and carried them across the street to the old Lions Club and camped in their yard.
