Day 37 - 070709

Fairplay, CO to Frisco, CO - 38 miles

The day started with temperatures in the low 30s. A few of us went back to the Java Moose Coffee House & Deli to wait for the arrival of warmer temperatures. A short ride day today as we continued to climb toward the highest elevation of our trip, Hoosier Pass at 11,539 Feet.

After the climb we enjoyed an amazing downhill 11 miles into Breckenridge. We couldn't have landed in Breckenridge at a better time as its bike week. Our bikes, jerseys, and tight shammies are a perfect fit! As others enjoyed food and the festivities of bike week, I ventured down to the Summit County Public Library: South to upload pictures and update this blog. Breckenridge is a great ski resort town but apparently isn't camp friendly so after dinner at the Breckenridge Brewery we rode several extra miles to the Peak One campground in the White River National Forest near Frisco, CO. The ride was nice and easy thanks to the bike path which runs from Breckenridge to Vail. We took turns enjoying the mysterious power of the Pudgy Pie Iron, creating delicious goodies including: Snickers and marsh mellow pie, and peanut butter and marsh mellow pie, YUMMY! The campground was incredible with a fire pit, bathroom, and amazing views of the Dillon Reservoir and the surrounding mountains. Special thanks to Mike for coming and hanging out with us!
